The past decade boasted a clutch of one-hit wonders that will forever remain “somebody we used to know.”

Gotye – “Somebody That I Used To Know” (Feat. Kimbra)

Now he’s just somebody that we used to know — Peter Gabriel and Kimbra faded into obscurity after releasing this 2012 smash hit.

Baauer – “Harlem Shake”

This 2013 number sparked an international viral sensation — internet users around the world shared videos of themselves standing perfectly still until the drop, when they would go wild.

Ylvis – “The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)”

Norwegian brothers Vegard and Bård Ylvisåker released this hilarious, animal sound filled novelty track in 2013.

Silentó – “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”

There was a point in 2015 when everybody, and we mean everybody, was doing the novelty dance that made this song so famous.

OMI – “Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix)”

Jamaican singer OMI reportedly worked on this song for six years before it was remixed by Felix Jaehn and released to international fanfare in 2015.

Desiigner – “Panda”

This one sparked memes across social media with its bizarre championing of a panda and fast-rap lyrics. Desiigner had quite the year in 2016, but seems to have fallen off the mainstream charts since then.
