DUBAI: Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are parents.
The 24-year-old “Game of Thrones” star Turner and the 30-year-old singer Jonas announced the birth this week.
“Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby," they said in a statement released through his label Republic Records.
Celebrity website TMZ.com said the baby was a girl and was named Willa, she was born in a Los Angeles hospital on July 22.
Turner, the England-born actor who played Sansa Stark on “Game of Thrones” for eight seasons, and Jonas, the Arizona-born musician who came to fame in a band with his brothers on the Disney Channel, began dating in 2016 and married last year.
Fans took to social media to congratulate the new parents.
“You are gonna make great parents. Much love and good health to you both and to baby Willa,” one user tweeted.
“I cannot believe Joe Jonas is a dad,” another wrote.
Other supporters did their research and found out the baby girl’s name means “princess in the north.” While some seem to be disappointed at the name, others are appreciating the couple’s choice.
“I bet she’s gorgeous. Welcome Willa Jonas, first of her name, Princess in the North,” tweeted one user.
“As Mom to a Willa, I approve Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s choice of name for their baby girl.
