DUBAI: Gigi Hadid, Imaan Hammam and 21 other models have decided to donate personal pieces from their wardrobes to raise funds for two worthy causes in a charitable auction launching on June 9.

All proceeds from the The Way We Wore auction, in collaboration with pre-owned fashion platform Hardly Ever Worn it, will be split between NHS Charities Together and the NAACP.

With everything that has been happening in the world these last few months, I have been touched to see how the fashion industry has been rallying. In the July 2020 issue, some of my favourite models from the @BritishVogue family have taken part in a special online auction to raise money for @NHSCharitiesTogether and @NAACP, by each selecting a look from their own wardrobe to auction off, and documenting themselves in the process. You will have the chance to bid on these prized items for the first ever #TheWayWeWoreAuction, a collaboration with @HardlyEverWornIt. The event will begin on Vogue.hardlyeverwornit.com at 2pm BST on 9 June and end at 2pm BST on 12 June. See the supermodel selfies and items in full in the new issue, on newsstands and available for digital download now. LINK IN BIO for more on the auction.

Each participating model, including Kate Moss, Irina Shayk, Adut Akech and Joan Smalls, selected a piece from their own wardrobes that was special to them, photographed themselves in it, and then donated the piece to the charity auction, which was put together by British Vogue.

Part-Palestinian mom-to-be Hadid chose a Fenty jacket and  Dior saddle bag to donate. Sudanese catwalk star Akech sent over a quilted Chanel handbag she was gifted after walking in the French maison’s latest show.

Other top models who took part in the auction include Ashley Graham, who donated a Christian Siriano dress she had previously worn to the CFDA awards, while 90’s supermodel Helena Christensen sent a vintage Christian Dior dress she had worn to an Oscars party.

The Way We Wore auction launches on Tuesday June 9 at 2pm BST and will remain open for 72 hours. Visit Vogue.hardlyeverwornit.com to register your interest and receive a notification ahead of the auction launch.
