DUBAI: The Cannes International Film Festival’s postponement dates have changed amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In March, organizers announced the event, one of the world’s most important film festivals, will be held during the end of June or beginning of July. In the latest statement released, organizers said: “that is no longer an option” and the festival will not be held “in its original form” this year.
“It is clearly difficult to assume that the Festival de Cannes could be held this year in its original form,” the statement read.
However, the festival promises that when the health crisis passes, “we will have to reiterate and prove the importance of cinema and the role that its work, artists, professionals, film theaters and their audiences, play in our lives.”
