DUBAI: This week, Hedi Slimane, creative, artistic and image director at French fashion house Celine, has taken time out of his quarantine schedule to curate a selection of ten must-see films to stream on arthouse streaming platform, Mubi.
The list is comprised of film classics: “Apocalypse Now” by Francis Ford Coppola, “Paris, Texas” by Wim Wenders, the Ingmar Bergman-directed “Persona,” “Pierrot le Fou” by Jean-Luc Godard, “Red Desert” by Michelangelo Antonioni, and François Truffaut’s “The 400 Blows.” “Laurence Anyways” by Xavier Dolan, “Night Tide” by Curtis Harrington, “Charade” by Stanley Donen and “Le Circle Rouge” by Jean-Pierre Melville are also streaming on Mubi until May 31.
In addition to the films, Slimane and Mubi have joined forces for a free 30-day trial, allowing Celine fans and cinemaphiles to binge watch the designer’s favorite films at no cost while they stay at home.
The Tunisian-Italian-French designer isn’t the only one to partner up with the streaming platform. Dubai-based independent film house Cinema Akil has also joined forces with Mubi, to offer 90 days of free movie streaming to keep the public entertained amid the ongoing pandemic.
Some of the films available include “3 idiots” directed by Rajkumar Kirani, “Journey to the Shore Kishibe No Tabi” by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and “Our Daily Bread” by King Vidor.
