DUBAI: Egyptian pop singer Shaaban Abdel Rahim, 62, died Tuesday, according to local media.
Abdel Rahim’s health conditions deteriorated around dawn and he was transferred to the intensive care unit at a hospital in the Maadi district in Cairo, where he died, media outlet Sada El-Balad reported.
Known for his catchy, politically-themed lyrics, the star recently performed in Saudi Arabia on a wheelchair.
Abdel Rahim later explained that his leg broke after he slipped and fell at home.
