DUBAI: Bollywood-to-Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra has revealed details about her career, marriage and one of her closest friends, Meghan Markle, in a newly published interview with Elle magazine.
The Indian actress said she believes that South Asian actors get put into a box.
“All I’m expected to be good at is dancing and big, theatrical acting. So, I thought, the way to make a dent would be to not play Indian characters at all,” Chopra said in the interview with Elle magazine.
Her fame reached astronomical heights, however, when she married US singer Nick Jonas in December.
Speaking about her nuptials, Chopra said, “I’d never realized having a husband and a boyfriend are such different things. When you say your vows, it’s like, this person is my family and it’s the family I chose.”
And then there’s Chopra’s high-profile friendship with Meghan Markle.
“Megs… she was always meant for big things,” Chopra told the magazine, “To be a change and be an important voice in doing that. It’s amazing that she found that calling and has the platform to be able to do it.”
