Nadine Labaki’s Lebanese drama edged out by Golden Globes favorite Roma

JEDDAH: Nadine Labaki’s Capernaum missed out on a Golden Globe on Sunday. 

The movie nominated for best motion picture in the Foreign Language category was beaten out by Alfonso Cuaron’s magnificent black-and-white film “Roma.”

Also spelt Capharnaüm, the Lebanese drama is about a Syrian refugee’s difficult life in Lebanon. 

While serving a five-year sentence for a violent crime, a 12-year-old boy sues his parents for neglect.

The other nominees were Girl, Never Look Away, and Shoplifters.
