DUBAI: Victoria’s Secret model Shanina Shaik tied the knot with musician DJ Ruckus at a family-filled ceremony in the Bahamas on Saturday, and promptly followed it up with a bash in Miami that was attended by likes of Bella Hadid and model Hailey Baldwin.
Reverend Run of Run DMC performed the ceremony as family, friends and a handful of celebrity guests gathered for the nuptials, including Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross, as well as models Nadine Leopold and Hannah Ferguson.
The model, whose father is Saudi-Pakistani and mother is Lithuanian-Australian, married her long-time beau Gregory Andrews on musician Lenny Kravitz’s private island of Eleuthera
In December 2016, a year after Andrews proposed, Shaik told W Magazine that she was planning a tropical destination wedding. "Somewhere on a beach definitely," she said. "We're scouting different ideas right now," she added.
More recently, she spoke to Vogue Italia in an interview published on Friday.
"I've done almost all of my wedding planning myself, which has been quite overwhelming, but also really exciting because it will have so much of Gregory and me in the look and feel," she told the magazine. "I have a custom dress that is a little bit elegant (and) bohemian because we will be getting married on the beach. I'm incredibly excited for the big day!"
The Melbourne-raised model hinted that she would be getting married soon last Wednesday, posting photo of two private jets on her Snapchat account with the caption “His & Hers” alongside emojis of a bride and groom.
She later confirmed her marriage by shared an image of the words “Just Married” on Snapchat.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds jetted into Miami and enjoyed a wild reception at the world famous LIV nightclub.
According to Page Six, the 27-year-old fashion star and her DJ husband arrived in the early hours of the morning — at around 2 a.m. — and proceeded to dance the night away with their guests. Shaik showed up in a stunning champagne-colored silk mini-dress and partied with her closest friends, including models Jasmine Tookes and Gizele Oliveira.
The happy couple got engaged in December 2015 after dating for less than a year. He reportedly presented her with two Lorraine Schwartz rings and let her take her pick. She eventually chose a gold band that featured an amethyst and a diamond.
