JEDDAH: Hollywood actress Hilary Swank delighted her Arab fans on Sunday by posting a photo on social media from her recent visit to the pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
Swank, along with actors Nicolas Cage and Adrien Brody, attended the closing ceremony of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) last week. The CIFF closing ceremony honored the three.
After receiving her award, Swank began her speech with, “As-salam aleikum” and said she had finally achieved a lifelong dream of visiting Egypt and seeing the pyramids.
Cage reportedly left Cairo soon after the festival while Swank chose to stay behind to visit more places in the city.
Photos of the two at the pyramids started circulating on the Internet last week. The stars were evidently excited to visit Egypt and the historical sights, expressing an admiration for ancient Egyptian civilization.
They visited the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Sphinx, and the archaeological panorama area.
In the Instagram photo, the “Million Dollar Baby” star is only partly seen wearing a black cap, with the pyramid looming in the background. She captioned her photo “When you photobomb a pyramid. #Pyramid #Egypt #WhatALife!”
Swank’s fans from Egypt welcomed her to the Arab country, some even recommending other places to visit in the region.
“That’s awesome I’m sure you’re having fun ... there’s a lot of places to visit over there ... God I’ve missed my beautiful Egypt,” wrote @roshahobock
“Welcome to Egypt ... enjoy the land of the Nile ... loads of peace and love,” commented @ibrahimabdou
Another fan, @sososayo, invited Swank to visit the Nubian pyramids in Sudan: “Come to Sudan please and see the pyramid there, the culture, and I’m sure you’ll never forget it. Please.”
