JEDDAH: Is a music collaboration between WWE star turned actor John Cena and Egyptian singer Tamer Hosny in the cards?
Fans of both the stars were left wondering such on Thursday after Cena posted Hosny’s black and white image on his Instagram account without a caption.
Many of Cena’s Egyptian fans expressed surprise at seeing their favorite singer on the international wrestler’s account. Proud Egyptians took to the comments sections, lavishing praise on Hosny and describing him with superlatives such as a “legend,” “star of the generation,” “best singer in the Middle East and Africa,” and “shining megastar.”
One fan even speculated that Hosny might make an appearance on Survivor Series, an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event held by the WWE. Cena was recently confirmed as making a return to the series for a match.
@satbirr wrote: “I think he might show up at Survivor Series with medium hair and beard ... we might see his look this Sunday.”
Another fan had a rather interesting answer to the mystery post. He said both Cena and Hosny have the same number of Instagram followers — 7.8 million — which probably explains the 16-time world champion’s post.
Some wondered about the possibility of seeing the two collaborate for a film or music venture while others wrote that Cena is a fan of the Arab artist, constantly staying updated with news about him and having his films and music translated.
Earlier this year, Hosny became the first Arab star to receive an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California.
