In Westworld’s ninth episode, Ford tells Bernard that you can’t rely on humans. But it’s Westworld’s hosts who’ve proved the most unreliable as narrators throughout the season.
As attentive viewers guessed weeks ago, Bernard is Arnold — or rather a version of him built based on memories by Dr. Ford. The clues were all there in earlier episodes: the photo that seemed to be missing someone, the chats between Bernard and Dolores that seemed so out of place, the fact that Bernard (or rather Arnold, who we thought at the time was Bernard) set Dolores on the path toward the maze.
