Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi won the Best Middle East Artist prize at Russia’s Bravo Music Awards on March 10. Al Jassmi traveled to Moscow to receive his award from Russian singer Nikolay Baskov, but he also performed at the ceremony, along with a bewildering lineup of UK pop veterans and past-their-prime Euro stars including Duran Duran, Europe, Seal and legendary mullet-carrier Rod Stewart.
The event was sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism. It was announced that the UAE capital will host the Bravo awards in November this year.
Al Jassmi told UAE daily The National that it was “a pleasure” to be in the sub-zero temperatures of Moscow to make his Russian debut. “The weather is cold, but their hearts are warm,” he said.
